On April [XXX], 2026 at 5:52 AM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Los Angeles, California was in a collision involving a heavy truck on [XXX] at [XXX].

The Waymo AV was traveling southeastbound in the designated left turn lane on [XXX] with its left turn signal activated and slowing in preparation for an unprotected left turn at the green light at the intersection with [XXX]. A heavy truck traveling in front of the Waymo AV in the designated left turn lane proceeded straight across the intersection with [XXX] and came to a stop along the north curb of [XXX] against the proper direction of traffic, with its hazard lights activated. As the Waymo AV initiated the left turn, the heavy truck began to reverse into the Waymo AV's path of travel and the Waymo AV slowed to a stop. The Waymo AV began to reverse as the heavy truck continued to reverse, and the rear right side of the heavy truck made contact with the front of the stationary Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo AV sustained damage.
