On June [XXX], 2026 at 11:55 AM MT a [Waymo](/companies/waymo.md) Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Mesa, Arizona was in a collision involving an SUV on [XXX] near [XXX].

The Waymo AV was stopped facing north in the rightmost of two designated left turn only lanes on [XXX] for a red light at the intersection with [XXX], with its left turn signal activated in preparation for a left turn onto [XXX]. Two lanes to the left of the Waymo AV, an SUV was stopped facing north in the leftmost lane on southbound [XXX], against the proper direction of traffic. After the left turn light arrow turned green, the Waymo AV proceeded to make a left turn onto the right lane of [XXX], and the SUV proceeded to make a left turn across the intersection and onto the left lane of [XXX], adjacent to the Waymo AV. As the Waymo AV was completing the left turn onto [XXX] and exiting the intersection, the SUV proceeded to cross into the Waymo AV's lane of travel, and the front right side of the SUV made contact with the front left side of the Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. Both vehicles sustained damage.
