American investor and philanthropist, chairman and former CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. Born August 30, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, Buffett is widely considered one of the most successful investors of all time and is known as the "Oracle of Omaha." He built Berkshire Hathaway from a failing textile manufacturer into a diversified conglomerate holding company over five decades as CEO (1970–2025), owning businesses including Geico, BNSF Railway, and Dairy Queen. He retired as CEO at the end of 2025 and was succeeded by Greg Abel, remaining as chairman. He is a co-founder of the Giving Pledge and has pledged to donate the majority of his fortune to philanthropy.
