The United Kingdom's Automated Vehicles Act 2024 (2024 c. 10), which received royal assent on 20 May 2024 (most provisions commencing via secondary legislation). It establishes the framework for self-driving cars and trucks: an 'authorised self-driving entity' (ASDE) accountable for the vehicle's behaviour, a 'no-user-in-charge' operating mode, and user-in-charge immunity.
