Torc operates as an independent subsidiary of which Daimler Truck is the majority owner, focused on highway traffic between distribution hubs. Since April 2022 Torc has worked with major U.S. logistics companies via the Torc Autonomous Advisory Council (members named include Schneider, Covenant Logistics, Penske Truck Leasing, Ryder, C.H. Robinson, and Baton). Daimler Truck and Torc state a goal of market entry for hub-to-hub SAE Level 4 autonomous trucks in the United States in 2027, and note 2024 driver-out test runs on a multi-lane Texas test track.
