DoorDash acquires Chowbotics

DoorDash (NYSE: DASH) is an on-demand local delivery marketplace founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Francisco. Its autonomous arm, DoorDash Labs, develops last-mile delivery robotics. In September 2025 DoorDash unveiled Dot, an in-house autonomous delivery robot that operates across bike lanes, roads, and sidewalks, with early-access testing in the Phoenix metro area. DoorDash also works with third-party robotics operators, including a 2025 agreement to use [Serve robotics](/companies/serve-robotics) sidewalk robots for deliveries in Los Angeles.

Chowbotics was an American food robotics company that developed Sally, the world's first fresh food-making robot — a 3x3 foot automated kiosk that assembled customizable salads, grain bowls, and poke bowls from up to 22 ingredients in under a minute. Founded as Casabots in the Techstars Austin accelerator, the company was acquired by [Doordash](/companies/doordash) in February 2021 and shuttered in August 2022 after Sally failed to meet internal performance benchmarks.
