NASA Ames Research Center is a NASA research facility in Mountain View, California, founded in 1939 as the second NACA laboratory. The center's Intelligent Robotics Group developed the [Astrobee](/models/astrobee) free-flying robotic system for use aboard the International Space Station, where three Astrobee robots (Bumble, Honey, and Queen) have been operating since 2019 to assist astronauts with research tasks, inventory, and maintenance. Ames also conducts research in aeronautics, entry systems, supercomputing, and space science.
