Alin Albu-Schäffer
Alin Albu-Schäffer is the Director of the DLR Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics since 2012, which he joined in 1995. He is also a professor at TU Munich, holding the Chair for Sensor Based Robotic Systems and Intelligent Assistance Systems. He received his Ph.D. in automatic control from TU Munich in 2002.
He centrally contributed to the development of the DLR light-weight robot (LWR III) and its technology transfer to KUKA, and to the MIRO surgical robot system transferred to Covidien/Medtronic. He is an IEEE Fellow since 2018 and received an ERC Advanced Grant in 2019 for the M-Runners project on energy-efficient legged locomotion. Author of 270+ peer-reviewed papers.
