Bill Huang

Founder and CEO of CloudMinds (达闼科技, also known as Dataa Robotics), a Chinese cloud-connected robotics company he established in 2015. Born in China, he earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science & Technology and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois.

He began his career at Bell Laboratories, developed the WACOS operating system, and coined the 'Network is the Switch' soft-switch concept in 1996. He joined China Mobile in 2007 to lead its research institute and in 2012 created the cloud-based robot architecture (cloud brain + secure network + robot terminal) that underpins CloudMinds. During the Wuhan COVID-19 outbreak his company deployed a robot-staffed medical quarantine facility.
