Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of NeuroLutions, a medical device company commercializing the IpsiHand Upper Extremity Rehabilitation System, the first FDA-authorized brain-computer interface device for chronic stroke rehabilitation (De Novo market authorization granted April 2021). He is the Shi H. Huang Professor of Neurological Surgery at Washington University in St.

Louis, where he serves as vice-chair of innovation, chief of the Division of Neurotechnology, and director of the Center for Innovation in Neuroscience and Technology. He earned his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, completed his neurosurgery residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and holds an Executive M.B.A. from Washington University's Olin Business School (2024).

He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors and holds hundreds of patents in neurotechnology; he also co-founded Sora Neuroscience, whose Cirrus AI-based fMRI brain-mapping software received FDA market authorization in 2025.
