Horace William Heyman

American electrical engineer (1912–1998) who founded Sevcon in 1961 to develop semiconductor-controlled rectifier (SCR) motor controllers for electric vehicles. Sevcon became a leading supplier of EV traction controllers and was later acquired by BorgWarner in 2017. Heyman held the foundational patents on SCR-based speed control for battery-electric and hybrid vehicles.
