Marcos Galperin

Argentine technology entrepreneur and co-founder of Mercado Libre, Latin America’s largest publicly listed technology company. Born October 31, 1971 in Buenos Aires, he holds a BA from the Wharton School (1994) and an MBA from Stanford University (1999). He led Mercado Libre as CEO for 26 years, growing it from a regional eBay clone into an e-commerce and fintech powerhouse spanning Mercado Pago, Mercado Crédito, Mercado Envíos, and Mercado Ads.

In May 2025 he announced he would step down as CEO at year-end, becoming Executive Chairman on January 1, 2026, with a focus on long-term strategy, capital allocation, and AI-driven innovation. With an estimated net worth of about US$9.3 billion (Forbes, 2025), he is widely regarded as Argentina’s richest individual.
