- Multi-rotor: the hovering camera drone most people picture.
Lifted by several rotors, usually four (a quadcopter), sometimes three, six, or eight. It takes off straight up, hovers precisely, and is easy to fly, at the cost of shorter flight time. This is the class that dominates consumer and photography use.
