Deployment
Moxie at Pasadena
Moxie is a child-focused AI companion robot developed by Embodied Inc of Pasadena, California, designed to support social-emotional learning in children ages 5 to 10. The robot includes a front camera, microphones, and continuous audio and video recording transmitted to the cloud; biometric facial expression datapoints are collected and processed via cloud AI.
Natural language responses are generated using Google Cloud Speech-to-Text, OpenAI, and Anthropic language models, filtered by Embodied before playback. The robot becomes inoperable if parents revoke data consent. Sold at approximately $799 before Embodied wound down operations in late 2023; the product has been discontinued.
