Varda Space Industries' onboard footage of its W-1 capsule autonomously reentering from low Earth orbit through parachute deployment to a landing in Utah (February 2024), a successful reentry. The W-series capsule manufactures pharmaceuticals in space and returns them via autonomous reentry.

The W-1 mission conducted autonomous on-orbit pharmaceutical processing of ritonavir crystals in low Earth orbit, followed by autonomous hypersonic reentry, landing in Utah on 2024-02-21. Varda became the first commercial company to land a spacecraft on US soil, with the capsule recovered intact.
