Tesla reveals two Robotaxi crashes involving teleoperators in newly unredacted NHTSA reports
Newly unredacted NHTSA crash reports revealed that Tesla Robotaxis crashed at least twice while a teleoperator was remotely driving the vehicles in Austin, Texas. In July 2025, a teleoperator drove a Tesla up a curb and into a metal fence after the ADS had trouble moving forward. In January 2026, a teleoperator took over control and hit a temporary construction barricade at approximately 9 mph. Both incidents occurred at low speeds with a safety monitor present and no passengers onboard. Tesla also disclosed that one crash involved the ADS hitting a dog.
