Tesla robotaxi remote operator crashed vehicle into metal fence in Houston
Tesla filed four new Robotaxi crash reports with NHTSA in July 2026. The most serious involved a remote teleoperator in Houston who took control of a stuck autonomous vehicle, accelerated, turned left, and drove up a curb into a metal fence at 8 mph. This was the third documented remote-operator crash following a pattern where the autonomous system gets stuck, a human takes over remotely, and the human crashes the car.
