NHTSA opens investigation PE22-019 into TuSimple ADS safety (Aug 2022)
On August 5, 2022, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation opened Preliminary Evaluation PE22-019 into TuSimple's automated driving system. The investigation examined the April 6, 2022 I-10 steering-failure incident, TuSimple's ADS disengagement logging practices, and safety case methodology. TuSimple was required to provide technical documentation.
