Aurora - PACCAR autonomous trucks

American autonomous-trucking company (Nasdaq: AUR), founded 2017 by [Chris Urmson](/people/chris-urmson), [Sterling Anderson](/people/sterling-anderson), and [Drew Bagnell](/people/drew-bagnell). Developer of the [Aurora Driver](/brains/aurora-driver) (SAE Level 4), which it integrates onto PACCAR, International, and Volvo trucks. Launched the first commercial driverless freight service in the US (Dallas-Houston, May 2025) and is scaling an observer-free fleet on a 2nd-generation [International LT platform](/models/aurora-international-lt).

PACCAR Inc is a Bellevue, Washington-based global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of premium light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. PACCAR is developing autonomous truck technology through a strategic partnership with [Aurora Innovation](/companies/aurora) (announced January 2021) to integrate the Aurora Driver into Peterbilt 579 and Kenworth T680 trucks, and has conducted commercial pilot programs with Aurora and FedEx. The company also designs advanced powertrains and provides financial services through PACCAR Financial Services.
