Cargotec partial demerger: Kalmar spin-off

Cargotec (Nasdaq Helsinki: CGCBV) was a Finnish cargo handling company formed in June 2005 from the demerger of Kone Corporation, comprising three business areas: [Kalmar](/companies/kalmar) (port automation), Hiab (load handling), and MacGregor (marine cargo). In June 2024, Cargotec completed a partial demerger spinning off Kalmar as an independent company listed on Nasdaq Helsinki (KALMAR). The remaining Cargotec entity was renamed Hiab Corporation in 2025, focusing on on-road load handling equipment. Cargotec's 2022 sales totalled approximately EUR 4 billion with around 11,500 employees.

Kalmar is a Finnish cargo handling equipment manufacturer and the global leader in sustainable port and terminal automation. Formerly part of [Cargotec](https://www.cargotec.com), Kalmar was spun off as an independent company listed on Nasdaq Helsinki (KALMAR) in June 2024. The company's autonomous product line includes the [AutoStrad](/models/kalmar-autostrad) automated straddle carrier system and the AutoTT autonomous terminal tractor, developed in partnership with [Forterra](https://www.forterra.ai) for driverless port logistics.
