Google x DTE Energy (Project Cannoli MPSC special contracts)

Oct 1 2026 Michigan Public Service Commission conditionally approved DTE Electric special contracts with Google LLC (Case U-22058) for electric service to the ~1 GW Project Cannoli data center in Van Buren Township: a 20-year Primary Supply Agreement and a Clean Capacity Accelerator Agreement under which Google pays for up to 1,600 MW of renewables and 480 MW of battery storage. Protections include about 80% minimum billing demand and early-termination recovery of at least 15 years of minimum charges (MLive reports an exit fee up to $2.5B).
