Rolls-Royce (Mar 9 2021) announced its first commercial Urban Air Mobility deal to design the electrical propulsion system architecture for Vertical Aerospace's piloted VA-X4 eVTOL, including 100 kW-class lift and push units, power distribution, and monitoring. About 150 Rolls-Royce engineers across Hungary, Singapore, Germany, the U.S., and the UK were expected to support development toward a then-stated 2024 certification target. Aircraft framed as carrying up to four passengers about 120 miles at cruise over 200 mph (company-stated at announcement).
