Jim Goetz
Partner at Sequoia Capital. Co-founded VitalSigns (which Sequoia backed) before joining the firm. Led Sequoia's U.S. business from 2012 until 2017, when he was succeeded by Roelof Botha.
Best known for leading Sequoia's early investment in WhatsApp (2011), which was acquired by Facebook in 2014 for $19 billion—Sequoia's single best-known investment. Also led investments in GitHub, Nimble Storage, and Ruckus Wireless. Detroit native; now based in Miami. Has been affiliated with Sequoia as both an entrepreneur and investor for over 25 years.
