Matt Golden

Founder and Managing Partner of Golden Ventures, a Toronto-based seed-stage venture capital fund he established in 2011 as one of Canada's earliest micro-VC funds. An experienced entrepreneur and venture capitalist, Matt has focused on startups his entire career, engaging in all aspects of building and guiding disruptive companies from their very early stages.

Prior to founding Golden Ventures, Matt led deals at BlackBerry Partners Fund and Brightspark Ventures, and cut his entrepreneurial teeth as co-founder of Tira Wireless, a mobile games publisher and content deployment technology company that became a recognized industry leader. Matt began his career as a lawyer at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, one of Canada's premier law firms, specializing in business technology, financial services, and M&A.

He holds an LLB/MBA from the University of Ottawa and a BA in Economics from York University. Select investments include Dominion Dynamics, Wattpad (acquired by Naver), Skip the Dishes (acquired by Just Eat), Neo Financial, and Xanadu (quantum computing). Matt is also a mentor at Creative Destruction Lab.
