Robot capabilities
Can humanoid robots do laundry?
No humanoid does home laundry as a deployed capability; the folding you have seen is a demo. No humanoid does home laundry as a deployed capability on DEPLOY's record. The folding clips are real but controlled: Figure has shown its Helix humanoid folding towels autonomously, and 1X markets NEO for folding and tidying, though independent reporting found NEO's home tasks were run with a remote human operator. Those are demonstrations and product claims, attributed to their makers, not a laundry robot you can deploy at home.

Not as something you can deploy at home. On DEPLOY's record, no humanoid does household laundry as a real, deployed capability. What exists are folding demonstrations, and they are worth understanding precisely.
Folding laundry is one of the hardest manipulation tasks a robot can attempt, because fabric is deformable: it has no fixed shape, bunches and slips, and offers no single correct grasp. That is exactly why the demos are notable. Figure released video of its Helix-powered humanoid folding towels one by one into a basket, which Figure calls the first fully autonomous instance of a humanoid folding laundry with an end-to-end neural network. It is a genuine, on-camera demonstration, and it is staged: a controlled setup Figure frames as a research achievement.
1X takes a different route. It sells NEO as a home humanoid that folds laundry and tidies, for $20,000 or $499 a month. But when a reporter tested it, the household tasks were run with a 1X employee in a VR headset remotely operating the robot, so the folding you see marketed is human-assisted, not autonomous. LG likewise demonstrated a CLOiD humanoid starting a wash cycle and folding garments at CES 2026, again a prototype showcase.
So the honest answer is that laundry folding is a demonstrated and claimed capability, not a deployed one. The robots doing it are real and on DEPLOY's record as models, but none is deployed as a home laundry robot. Everything here is dated and attributed to its source, so you can watch the demos and judge them yourself.
What the record holds
Read live from DEPLOY’s reviewed registry. DEPLOY tracks humanoids, but none is deployed as a home laundry robot, so the laundry answer is an honest absence.
| Fact | Status | As of |
|---|---|---|
| Deployed home laundry humanoid No humanoid does home laundry as a deployed capability on the record. DEPLOY holds 107 reviewed humanoid models. None carries a verified home-laundry deployment. Humanoids appear in factory and logistics pilots on the record, not as a home laundry robot, so the laundry answer is an honest absence, not a claim. | Not on the record | Jul 26, 2026 |
The folding demos, dated and attributed
Each robot is read from its verified registry record; each folding demonstration is attributed to the maker and dated to its source. Every one is a controlled or human-assisted demo, not a deployed home capability.
| Robot | Demonstration | Status | As of | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NEO1X Technologies | 1X sells NEO for home chores including folding laundry, but the demos used a remote operator. 1X markets NEO as a home humanoid that folds laundry and tidies, priced at $20,000 or $499 a month. Independent reporting found the household tasks NEO performed for a reporter were run with a 1X employee in a VR headset remotely operating the robot, not autonomous folding. It is a product claim with a teleoperation caveat, not a verified capability. | Claimed, human-assisted | Feb 26, 2026 (as reported) | |
| LG CLOiDLG | LG's CLOiD humanoid showed a laundry demo at CES 2026. At CES 2026, LG demonstrated a household humanoid, CLOiD, starting a laundry cycle and folding and stacking garments after drying. LG presented it as a prototype in its Zero Labor Home concept, a staged showcase, not a shipping product. | Staged demo | Jan 6, 2026 (as reported) | |
| Figure 02Figure AI | Figure showed its Helix-powered humanoid folding laundry fully autonomously. Figure released video of its Helix humanoid folding towels one by one into a basket, which Figure calls the first instance of a humanoid with multi-fingered hands folding laundry fully autonomously with an end-to-end neural network. It is a controlled demonstration Figure frames as a research achievement, not a home deployment. | Autonomous demo | Aug 12, 2025 (as reported) |
Real demos, not a deployment
Each column is attributed to who holds the position. The demos are real; the caveats are the makers’ own; and the honest bottom line is that no humanoid does your laundry as a deployed capability.
Real folding, on camera
Figure's Helix humanoid folds towels autonomously in a controlled demo, and 1X and LG show humanoids folding and tidying. These are genuine, dated demonstrations, verifiable frame by frame.
Controlled or human-assisted
Figure frames its fold as a staged research demo. 1X sells NEO for home folding, but independent reporting found the tasks were run with a remote operator in a VR headset. The clips are real; autonomous home laundry is not established.
No deployed home laundry robot
No humanoid on DEPLOY's record does home laundry as a deployed capability. Folding is a demonstrated, claimed capability, not a deployed one. DEPLOY records a home-laundry capability when it is verifiably in the field.
How we know this
This answer reads DEPLOY's reviewed registry live for the scoped absence (a count of the humanoid models DEPLOY tracks, none deployed as a home laundry robot) and for the identity of the robots behind the folding demos (Figure 02, 1X NEO). Each folding demonstration is cited to the maker's own video or a report of it. Here are the sources behind them.
The folding clips are real, on-camera demonstrations, attributed to their makers. Figure's is a controlled research demo; 1X's home tasks were run with a remote human operator. No humanoid is deployed as a home laundry robot on DEPLOY's record, and the page says so rather than guessing.
