Atlas at Mountain View

Boston Dynamics' all-electric humanoid robot, announced April 2024 as a full redesign from the earlier hydraulic Atlas research platform. The electric Atlas stands 1.9 m (6.2 ft), weighs 90 kg, and features 56 degrees of freedom with a 2.3 m reach, 30 kg sustained payload, IP67 sealing, and a 4-hour battery with autonomous self-swap capability. Initial deployment is at Hyundai's Robotics Metaplant Application Center (RMAC) performing part sequencing, machine tending, and order-building; broader customer rollout is planned for 2027.

Google DeepMind received a portion of Boston Dynamics' entire 2026 Atlas production run for AI research. The deployment supports development of Google's Gemini Robotics AI foundation models (Large Behavior Models for general-purpose humanoid intelligence), integrated into Atlas via the Boston Dynamics-Google DeepMind partnership announced at CES 2026 on January 5, 2026.

All 2026 Atlas units are committed to two customers: Hyundai RMAC (Savannah, GA) and Google DeepMind. Additional customers are planned for 2027. This is a research/AI-training deployment, not a commercial production operation.
