Kongsberg HUGIN autonomous underwater vehicles deployed for commercial oil and gas subsea pipeline inspection in the Norwegian North Sea. In July 2019, Swire Seabed completed the first fully unmanned over-the-horizon pipeline inspection for Equinor -- a historic campaign covering 7 pipelines near Bergen with a combined length exceeding 350 km. The HUGIN AUV was the sensor-carrying platform; the SeaKit Maxlimer unmanned surface vessel (USV) acted as host for positioning and communications; the complete operation was controlled from an onshore centre in Bergen. This is the first time an autonomous over-the-horizon pipeline inspection was completed without crew on the water.
