Deployment
Nuro R2 at Houston
Second-generation Nuro autonomous road vehicle. Low-speed automotive form factor, goods-only (no passenger compartment). Deployed in Houston, Mountain View, and Scottsdale. Classified as `av` form factor; regulatory regime is road-vehicle, not sidewalk. Nuro pivoted from first-party delivery to AV technology licensing (the Nuro Driver). Current R2 operations in Mountain View and Houston are Nuro's own R&D fleet validating the Nuro Driver, not customer deployments; the model is classified research to reflect this post-pivot state.

Footage
Nuro's announcement of its earlier-generation zero-occupant delivery vehicle (R2 era), distinct from the newer R3 and the Nuro Driver system.
Nuro's R2 consumer-delivery operations in Houston included the Domino's pizza-delivery pilot launched in April 2021 in Woodland Heights. Nuro's own commercial delivery never scaled: in September 2024 the company pivoted to licensing its autonomy stack to automakers, stopped building its delivery bots, and wound down its own delivery pilots. The pilot did not convert.

- Nuro Driver L4 driverless operations active (zero-occupant vehicles) in Houston and the Bay Area (Mountain View/Palo Alto); operational area expanded ~70% (Houston) / ~83% (Bay Area), now operating after dark. Deployment reflects Nuro Driver R&D/driverless ops (modeled here as nuro-r2). Nuro pivoted to licensing the Nuro Driver in 2024; first-party robotaxi (Lucid/Uber) targeted late 2026.
