The UR5e is a 6-axis collaborative robot arm from Universal Robots (e-Series, launched 2018) with a 5 kg payload capacity and 850 mm reach. Weighing 20.6 kg with a repeatability of plus or minus 0.03 mm, it is designed for tasks such as assembly, pick-and-place, machine tending, and quality inspection in human-adjacent environments.
All six joints use Harmonic Drive AG HFUS-2SH strain-wave gears at 100:1 reduction: HFUS-25-2SH for the three larger joints and HFUS-14-2SH for the three smaller joints. The e-Series introduced a built-in force/torque sensor, improved tool-flange I/O, and a redesigned teach pendant vs the CB3 UR5.
