Waymo robotaxi rear-ended by SUV at Sunset Road and Polaris Avenue in Las Vegas, at least one injured

On July 19, 2026 at approximately 9:45 a.m., a Waymo autonomous vehicle was struck from behind by a dark-colored SUV near Sunset Road and Polaris Avenue in south Las Vegas. The SUV continued forward after the impact and also hit a light pole. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed at least one person was injured and the investigation is ongoing.

Waymo stated the SUV struck the Waymo vehicle from behind. This is the first reported Waymo crash since the Las Vegas service launched.
