CPSC: Modular Robotics recalls rechargeable battery packs over short-circuit burn hazard (2020)
On April 30, 2020, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Modular Robotics (Dexter Industries) recalled 9.6V NiMH rechargeable battery packs because the battery packs can short circuit and overheat, posing a burn hazard. CPSC reported about 2,400 units recalled, with 4 reports of smoking or overheating; no injuries were reported. Remedy: free replacement battery pack. (CPSC Recall 20115.)
