On June [XXX], 2026 at 8:34 AM CT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle (:Waymo AV") operating in Houston, Texas was in a collision involving a motorcycle helmet on [XXX] near [XXX].

The Waymo AV was stopped facing south in the second from the right lane on [XXX] in a queue of traffic for a red light at the intersection with [XXX]. After the light turned green and traffic ahead advanced, the Waymo AV began to proceed forward. At the same time, a motorcycle helmet fell from the back of a motorcycle traveling in front of the Waymo AV and into the Waymo AV's lane of travel, and the undercarriage of the Waymo AV made contact with the helmet. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo AV and the helmet sustained damage.
