ADS crash report in San Francisco, CA involving a JAGUAR I-PACE (NHTSA SGO 30270-15584)
On June [XXX], 2026 at 12:49 PM PT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in San Francisco, California was in a collision involving a heavy truck on [XXX] at [XXX].
The Waymo AV was stopped facing north in the left lane on [XXX] for a red light at the intersection with [XXX]. After the light turned green the Waymo AV proceeded straight, with its right turn signal activated in preparation for a lane change to the adjacent right lane and maneuvered to the right as it began to enter the intersection. As the Waymo AV maneuvered further towards the right and entered the intersection, the Waymo AV began to slow to yield to pedestrians crossing [XXX] against the traffic light in the marked crosswalk. A heavy truck initially stopped in the right lane began to proceed forward and approached the Waymo AV from behind, and the front left side of the heavy truck made contact with the rear right side of the Waymo AV. At the time of impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The Waymo AV sustained damage.
