On August [XXX], 2026 at 1:52 PM EDT a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle ("Waymo AV") operating in Atlanta, Georgia was in a collision involving an SUV on [XXX] near [XXX].

The Waymo AV was stopped facing east on a narrow portion of [XXX], with vehicles parked at the south curb facing east. The Waymo AV was positioned partially in-lane near the south curb with its hazard lights activated for a passenger drop off. While the Waymo AV was parked, a second Waymo AV ("Second Waymo AV"), traveling eastbound on [XXX] after completing a left turn from southeastbound [XXX], began passing the stationary Waymo AV on the left. As the Second Waymo AV was passing, a passenger in the stationary Waymo AV opened the rear left door of the stationary Waymo AV, and the right side of the Second Waymo AV made contact with the opened rear left door of the stationary Waymo AV. At the time of the impact, the Waymo AV's Level 4 ADS was engaged in autonomous mode. The passengers in the Waymo AV were not belted at the time of the collision as they were exiting the vehicle. Both vehicles sustained damage.
