Aurrion was a fabless silicon photonics company that developed a heterogeneous integration platform combining indium phosphide (InP) optoelectronic materials with silicon wafers for high-speed optical transceivers. Founded in 2008 and spun out of UC Santa Barbara research, Aurrion's technology enabled cost-effective, high-density photonic integrated circuits for data center networking. The company was acquired by Juniper Networks in August 2016 for approximately 65 million.
