NASA JSC Robotics (Johnson Space Center Dexterous Robotics Lab) develops humanoid robots for space exploration. Robonaut 2 (R2) became the first humanoid robot in space in 2011 aboard the ISS, and Valkyrie (R5) is designed for operation in degraded or damaged human-engineered environments. R2 was co-developed with General Motors.
