Where can robots work the most days a year?

Phoenix. Of the nine robot corridors Atlas scored against NOAA climate normals, Phoenix has the most estimated operating days at 340 a year, driven by just 22 precipitation days and no snow. Miami has the fewest, 230, because of 135 precipitation days and a tropical storm season. The estimate is deliberately conservative: it counts a day out whenever there is measurable precipitation or snow, so the real operable figure is likely higher, because many robots run through light precipitation. The method is transparent: operating days equal 365 minus precipitation days minus snow days, from NOAA 1991-2020 normals.

Why the number is conservative on purpose

Counting a day out for any measurable precipitation is a floor, not a forecast. Serve and Avride both publish bad-weather and all-weather operation claims, and light precipitation does not stop most sidewalk robots. The point of the conservative method is that even the harshest corridor of the nine still clears roughly two thirds of the year, so weather sets the economics of a corridor rather than deciding whether it is operable at all.
