Overview
iXAfrica Data Centres operates what it describes as East Africa's first hyperscale, carrier-neutral, AI-ready data centre campus, sited on Mombasa Road in Nairobi, Kenya. The company runs its NBOX1 campus in two phases (NBOX1.1 at 4.5 MW IT load across 780 racks and NBOX1.2 at 18 MW IT load across 3,744 racks) and is developing a second campus, NBOX2, on an 11-acre site at Tilisi about 40 km from NBOX1, engineered for 53 MW-plus of IT load. A third site, NBOX3, is planned southeast of NBOX1.
The facility markets itself as carrier-neutral (four fiber entry points) and sustainability-forward, running on a Kenyan grid that iXAfrica describes as 93 percent renewable and targeting a campus PUE of 1.25. In January 2026 it became the landing site for Oracle's first public cloud region in Kenya. Other tenants and partners named on the company site include Gewape Cloud, Atlancis Technologies and EverseTech (Servernah Cloud), Baobab Cloud Services with Mitsumi Distribution, and a Qubit Hub AI collaboration with Qhala, Amini AI, and Angani.
The company is chaired by Guy Willner (co-founder of IXcellerate and IXAsia) and led by CEO Snehar Shah, with Bill Barney and other data-centre industry veterans on the board. Ownership is private; specific investor and funding disclosures are not published on the company's public pages.
