Overview
Nature Robots is an Osnabrück-based AgTech startup and DFKI spin-off developing the Farming Autonomy Operating System (FAOS), a hardware-agnostic autonomy software platform for agricultural machinery. Founded in 2022, the company enables machine manufacturers to retrofit tractors and implements with autonomous navigation capabilities — including field coverage planning, row following, 3D perception, and obstacle avoidance — without requiring GNSS. The system supports open-field farming, orchards, vineyards, and agroforestry, targeting regenerative agriculture practices that reduce chemical inputs by up to 90%.
