From mid-2025, Volkswagen subsidiary MOIA deployed pre-series units of the autonomous VW ID. The ID. Buzz AD is equipped with a 27-sensor suite: 13 cameras, 9 LiDAR units, and 5 radars. The AV system is Mobileye Drive, supplied under a Volkswagen ADMT / Mobileye partnership announced in 2024. Riders book through the MOIA app or the HVV switch public transit app. Volkswagen announced series-production readiness for the ID. Buzz AD in June 2025; the Hamburg ALIKE deployment is the first real-world operational trial of pre-series units. Expansion to Los Angeles on the Uber platform, with human safety operators, is planned for late 2026.
FirstSeen date is approximate: the trial launched mid-2025 with no single precise public launch date in available sources.
