Sunnyvale-based humanoid-robotics company founded in 2022, among the fastest-moving US humanoid developers from prototype to production partnership. Its industrial humanoid [Figure 02](/models/figure-02) ran a flagship production deployment at [BMW](/companies/bmw)'s Spartanburg plant (since ended); the next-generation [Figure 03](/models/figure-03) (with notably dexterous hands, 16 DoF per hand) is its current platform, increasingly oriented toward both industrial RaaS and eventual home use. Figure develops its own [Helix](/brains/helix) vision-language-action AI and operates BotQ, a manufacturing facility tooled to produce up to ~12,000 Figure robots per year. Financials: Figure raised over $1 billion in a Series C (September 2025) at a $39 billion valuation, a roughly 15x jump from its $2.6 billion valuation in February 2024, bringing total funding raised to roughly $1.7 billion. Investors include NVIDIA and Qualcomm Ventures. Reality check: Figure's elevated valuation is partly home-market optionality; CEO [Brett Adcock](/people/brett-adcock) has acknowledged home autonomy is not yet ready for unsupervised operation, so near-term revenue is industrial robots-as-a-service. The BMW deployment, though small in unit count, represents genuine factory integration rather than lab demos. BotQ's 12,000/yr is production capacity, not current output.

World leader in accelerated computing and AI (NASDAQ: NVDA). In physical AI, NVIDIA develops the Isaac robotics platform: the GR00T open foundation model, Jetson edge compute (AGX Thor), Isaac Lab and Isaac Sim simulation environments, and Omniverse. NVIDIA positions itself as the platform layer for the humanoid industry. Developer of [GR00T N1](/brains/gr00t-n1), the first open humanoid foundation model.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) is a semiconductor and technology company developing AI chips, autonomous driving technology via Mobileye, and manufacturing infrastructure. Owns 80% of Mobileye (ADAS/AV leader, 250M+ chips shipped). Also expanding into humanoid robotics via [Mentee robotics](/companies/mentee-robotics) acquisition ($900M). Founded 1968, headquartered in Santa Clara, CA.

ARK Invest (NYSE Arca: ARKK) is a US investment management firm focused on disruptive [Innovation](/companies/innovation-robotics). Founded by Cathie Wood in 2014. Major holdings in Tesla, robotics, AI, autonomous vehicles, and genomics. Influences market sentiment on robotics and AV companies.

Bezos Expeditions is the personal investment vehicle of Jeff Bezos, founder of [Amazon](/companies/amazon) and Blue Origin. Invests across technology, space, and frontier companies.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) develops AI, cloud computing, and enterprise software. Azure AI provides infrastructure for autonomous systems and robotics. M12 (Microsoft's venture arm) invests in robotics and AI startups. Partnered with [Openai](/companies/openai) for GPT integration across products.

Corporate venture capital arm of OpenAI that invests in early-stage AI companies pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence. Launched in 2021 with an initial $100M commitment that grew to $175M, the fund has backed over a dozen startups including humanoid-robotics firms [Figure AI](/companies/figure-ai) and 1X, legal AI platform Harvey, and healthcare AI startup Ambience Healthcare. The fund is managed by Ian Hathaway (sole partner since 2024) and Brad Lightcap (OpenAI COO); Sam Altman originally controlled the fund but transferred ownership in March 2024 amid governance scrutiny.

Parkway Venture Capital is a New York-based venture capital firm founded in 2019 by Jesse Coors-Blankenship and Gregg Hill. Parkway led Figure AI's $70M Series A in 2023 and co-led its $1B Series C at a $39B post-money valuation in 2025.
