Overview
T-Head Semiconductor (平头哥半导体, also known as Pingtouge) is Alibaba Group's wholly-owned semiconductor subsidiary, founded in September 2018 and spun out of Alibaba's DAMO Academy research institute. The company designs a full-stack data-center chip portfolio including the Hanguang 800 AI inference NPU, Yitian 710 ARM-based server CPU, Zhenwu 810E general-purpose GPU (PPU), Zhenyue 510 SSD controller, and the open-source RISC-V XuanTie processor series.
T-Head's PPU has become one of China's highest-shipping domestic GPUs, with 470,000 AI chips delivered by February 2026 and annualized revenue exceeding RMB 10 billion. The unit supplies chips to Alibaba Cloud for internal AI workloads including Qwen model training, and to external commercial customers including China Unicom.
