Toumai
MicroPort MedBot developed the Toumai, a four-arm laparoscopic surgical robot that became the first Chinese-developed surgical robot to receive NMPA regulatory clearance, granted in January 2022. The system uses 3D HD vision and wristed surgical instruments for minimally invasive procedures across urology, gynecology, and general surgery. A single-port variant, the Toumai SP, received separate NMPA clearance in March 2025, and a tele-operative version received NMPA approval in May 2025 as the first tele-surgical robot authorized for commercial clinical use globally.
