Trinseo (NYSE: TSE, formerly Styron) is a specialty materials solutions provider manufacturing plastics, latex binders, and synthetic rubber for automotive, consumer electronics, appliances, medical devices, and building applications. Spun off from Dow Chemical in 2010 and acquired by Bain Capital for USD 1.63 billion, the company went public in 2014.
Trinseo supplies advanced materials for electric vehicle battery packaging and lithium-ion battery coatings, including its VOLTABOND SBR binder platform for next-generation batteries. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on May 26, 2026, citing unsustainable debt and was delisted from the NYSE in March 2026.
