Overview

AirTrunk is an Asia-Pacific hyperscale data centre operator founded in Sydney in 2015 by Robin Khuda. It designs, builds and operates large campuses under long-term contracts with the biggest cloud and AI buyers, and its Australian and Japanese platforms have been among the fastest-scaling hyperscale portfolios in the region.

In September 2024 a consortium led by Blackstone, with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) as a significant minority partner, agreed to acquire AirTrunk from Macquarie Asset Management and Canada's PSP Investments for about A$24 billion (roughly US$16 billion), one of the largest data centre deals on record. Under Blackstone ownership the company has kept expanding: in March 2026 it closed a JP¥191.6 billion (about US$1.24 billion) green loan in Japan, and in April 2026 it acquired India's Lumina CloudInfra, adding around 600 MW of planned capacity and a development pipeline the company said could reach US$5 billion.

AirTrunk now describes a platform of more than 3 GW of operating and committed capacity across roughly 20 sites in Australia, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India and (most recently) Saudi Arabia, marketed under the tagline "Where the cloud meets the ground." Its customer base is dominated by hyperscale cloud and AI tenants rather than enterprise colocation.
