Overview

Ørsted is a Danish renewable energy company and the world's largest offshore wind developer, deploying autonomous drones and robotic inspection systems for offshore wind farm operations. Founded in 2006 as DONG Energy through a merger of Danish state-owned energy companies, it was renamed Ørsted in 2017 after divesting its oil and gas business.

The company launched the world's first heavy-lift cargo drone operations at its Borssele 1&2 Offshore Wind Farm in the Netherlands in August 2024, using 70 kg drones with 2.6m wingspans to transport cargo to 94 wind turbines, completing tasks 10-15x faster than conventional methods. Ørsted is listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen and reported DKK 79.3 billion (EUR 10.6 billion) revenue in 2023.
