The Hype Gap: famous vs proven
Media attention is easy; verified deployments are hard. The Hype Gap Index is a company’s media mentions divided by its verified real-world deployments. A high number means a lot of coverage and little proof on the ground.
Methodology
- Media = videos + press articles the registry tracks for a company’s models.
- Deployments = real-world deployments on record for those models.
- Hype Gap = media / (deployments + 1). Higher = more famous per unit of proof.
- A company needs meaningful coverage to be ranked. This is a directional signal, not a verdict on any single product.
