Founded in 1983 as a spinout from Unimation by Stanford graduates Bruce Shimano and Brian Carlisle with Victor Scheinman, the company develops SCARA, delta, six-axis, and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for factory automation and logistics. Omron acquired Adept in October 2015 for $200M, rebranding it as Omron Adept Technologies.
