Overview
The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin) is a public research university and a major hub for robotics research through its Texas Robotics center. Home to 17 core faculty and 40 affiliated faculty, Texas Robotics spans humanoid robotics, autonomous navigation, surgical robotics, brain-machine interfaces, and field robotics.
UT Austin hosts the Army-funded Robotics Center of Excellence (established 2019) and is the birthplace of Apptronik, a humanoid robotics spinout from the Human Centered Robotics Lab. The university has deployed Boston Dynamics Spot robots on campus for a five-year NSF-funded study on human-robot interaction in public spaces.
