Overview
Generative Bionics is an Italian deep tech company developing humanoid robots based on Physical AI — a physics-native approach that engineers the robot's body, mechanics, and motion intelligence as one system. Spun out from the Italian institute of technology (IIT) in 2024, the company unveiled its first platform, Gene.01, in July 2026: a fully functional humanoid with full-body multimodal smart skin that senses touch, proximity, force, and temperature for safe human collaboration in industrial environments. The company is backed by an $81M seed round and partners with Fincantieri for shipyard welding applications and AMD for compute infrastructure.

Gene.01
Gene.01 is a fully functional, sensorized humanoid robot platform designed for safe human collaboration in industrial environments. It features full-body multimodal smart skin that senses touch, proximity, force, and temperature, enabling collision avoidance and safe interaction with humans. Built in just six months, it uses AMD CPUs/GPUs with FPGA/edge processors for high-speed sensor fusion. The platform is open-source, with its URDF model available via PyPI, conda-forge, and ROS build farm.
Current platform
GENE.01
GENE.01 is Generative Bionics' first humanoid robot concept, unveiled at CES 2026 in collaboration with AMD. It features full-body tactile sensing (distributed tactile skin), AMD CPUs/GPUs with edge processing, and a Physical AI architecture where intelligence is distributed through the body. With ~40-60 DOF, ~170cm height, and ~60-80kg weight, it targets industrial manufacturing and logistics. Commercial production is expected Q4 2026.
